THE OPENING TIP - QUICK NOTES
The University of Minnesota women's basketball team hits the road for the fourth time in six games Thursday for a Big Ten match-up at #8/8 Penn State. The contest is set to tip off from the Bryce Jordan Center at 5:30 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast live on BTN with Brenda VanLengen and LaChina Robinson on the call.

The Gophers enter Thursday's contest with a 13-6 overall record and a 2-3 record in Big Ten play following their loss to Nebraska at home on Sunday night.
The Lady Lions carry a 15-2 record on the season and a perfect 5-0 record in Big Ten action into the contest, which puts them atop league standings.
Minnesota and Penn State will be meeting on the hardwood for the 37th time, with the Lady Lions leading the all-time series, 11-25.
The Gophers are 29-61 all-time when facing ranked opponents, which includes wins over a pair of top-25 team last season in Ohio State and Nebraska.
Minnesota ranks second in the Big Ten in scoring offense with an average of 72.2 points per game
With 966 career points, sophomore Rachel Banham needs just 34 more points to become the 21st Gopher in program history to notch 1,000 career points.
Rachel Banham is currently the second-leading scorer in the Big Ten with a 20.3 points per game average, trailing only Ohio State's Tayler Hill. The guard also ranks 17th nationally in scoring average.
Minnesota boasts an impressive .446 field goal percentage, which is the 19th-best mark nationally and is the fourth-highest percentage in the Big Ten.
Shayne Mullaney is averaging 3.2 assists per game, which ranks 13th in conference standings and first among the league's freshmen. Her 1.71 assist-turnover ratio is the second-best mark among the nation's rookies.
Sari Noga is averaging 6.4 rebounds per game in league contests, an improvement of 1.8 boards from her non-conference average of 4.6 rebounds per game.
