Post Game Quotes
Minnesota Head Coach Pam Borton
On when she knew the team would find a way to win...
"Probably when we took the lead the last 10 minutes of the game. Our players had finally settled down offensively and took good shots. We were taking care of the basketball and we had the right people on the floor."
On getting the win...
"A win is a win this time of the year. It goes in the win column and that is what we are excited about. At the end of the year you just look in the win column and you see a W there, so it doesn't really matter if it was pretty or not. We beat an SEC team and now we need to get ourselves ready for Virginia on Thursday."
On Kayla Hirt's play in the second half...
"She made some critical shots for us down the stretch. She is a scorer and she is a shooter. She can make shots like nobody's business."
On the team's play over the duration of the Cancun Challenge...
"I think that we got better. I think that we faced major adversity on this trip and we were able to come out of it with a 2-1 record. We really learned a lot about ourselves as a team. We learned about where we are mentally and physically and we put some pieces together as a team. I thought Shayne Mullaney played better down here and I thought Kionna Kellogg got better, as well. We just have to keep taking steps forward as a basketball team and not half a step back."
Redshirt freshman Kayla Hirt
On getting comfortable in her role...
"As the year has gone on I am starting to feel a lot more comfortable in playing my role of being a scorer and helping the team in any way possible."
On the weekend and the team's upcoming game vs. Virginia...
"I think that we had a great weekend in Cancun. We played some great teams and we came out to play. I think that we will do the same in the Virginia game, so I am pretty excited."
