Minnesota Head Coach Pam Borton
On the game:
"Obviously, we're really excited to come out of this tournament with a championship, with the quality of teams that were here, and our game going into double overtime yesterday, and just everything. I thought our team played very tough, played great defensively, did a great job on the boards. I thought it was a great team effort from everybody, with balanced scoring. I think our team's coming together pretty quickly. We're headed in the right direction."
On Sari Noga's play:
"I think Sari's still a young player. She hasn't had a lot of game minutes on the court. She is a junior, but she just really hasn't been on the court a lot. I think she struggled over our couple exhibition games. She struggled yesterday. I think she's just trying to find out what her role is and what she can do to help our team. She's doing a great job on the boards, knocking some shots down. She's playing unbelievable defense for us. She just needs to keep getting better each and every day."
On drawing fouls by driving:
"I think that's a great way to get easy points. If we can get 20-plus points a game from the free throw line, that's a great thing. We got to the line 40-some times yesterday and 31 times today. I think that's just an attacking mindset that we want to have."
On her freshness after playing a double overtime game yesterday:
"I felt good...good enough. (Athletic trainer) Kate (Taber) forced us to take an ice bath yesterday. Coach (Sara Wiley) had a good warm-up for us today. We just had to get ready to play."
On her comfort level this season:
"I feel a lot more comfortable. Confidence comes with preparation. I finally stopped being stubborn and listened to the coaches. That has been very productive for me. In addition, on the side, I have been getting in shape. I feel that if I get in shape I can do all the little things. My form will be good at the end of games and I will be able to be light on my feet. Getting in shape was big for me, and coach Curtis (Loyd) has helped me so much in the gym with fundamentals."
On confidence gained from the weekend:
"I think this gives us momentum to go to the next games. I am glad we got these two games, but now it is on to the next. We are focused on the next games."
On her turnovers early in the game:
"I just have to be smarter. A lot of those were not smart passes. I just have to clean it up."
