Minnesota Head Coach Pam Borton
"I thought we had some good segments in the game today. I think the first four minutes of the second half, there's probably one more segment in the second half, but I think there are a lot of good things we can take from this. Obviously a lot of lessons learned, especially in the second half. I was very pleased with the 29 turnovers. I thought we did a great job with Mikayla Bailey busting things up out there a little bit and creating some turnovers out there. I thought our perimeter defense was great, I thought our guards did a great job pressuring the basketball, defending the wings. I think we were getting out-rebounded by six boards with about three and half minutes to go and we challenged the players and they came back and out-rebounded then. We got ourselves in a hole with the boards but again, there are some good things we can take out of this. Obviously we're a work in progress, we had a lot of young players out there at times, trying to get them some minutes. The best is yet to come with this team."
On Kayla Hirt's performance:
"I think this was good for her to get as much time and as many minutes as she could out here with the pace of the game, the physicality and playing at game speed. Obviously she still has a lot of kinks to work out and that's completely understandable. A lot of work to do but I thought she did a good job tonight."
Minnesota Guard Rachel Banham
On if she feels more comfortable this year:
"I am feeling comfortable out there. I think a lot of it has to do with needing to get into better conditioning, which will come with practice and games. I'm just excited to get to the real games and to Big Ten play."
Minnesota Guard Mikayla Bailey
On how her first game as a Gopher was:
"It was really exciting. I came out calm and collective and didn't let the crowd get to me. I just came out and played my game. It was really exciting and I'm excited for the season to start."
