Williams Arena | Minneapolis, Minn.
Minnesota Head Coach Pam Borton
“Well, it was good to get some of the jitters out, and to allow the coaches to see what our team looks like this time of the year. I was pleased with their defensive effort, until halfway through the second half, and our inside-outside game was good. Rachel (Banham) and Jo (Joanna Hedstrom) really controlled the tempo of the game. Our defense is coming, but it’s a good start in October.”
On Amanda Zuhui’s dominating performance...
“It was important for her to get out and play. She hasn’t played (in a real game) in awhile, and it was great to see her enthusiasm. She has a lot of work to do, and a long ways to go, but she can build off it and we can see what she can do defensively, while improving her game.”
Junior guard Rachel Banham
On being able to play a real game...
“It was nice to play against other people. It was good to see where we were at conditioning-wise, and who works well together on the court.”
Sophomore forward Jackie Johnson
On what it felt like to play this season...
“I think it goes back to last year when I was working in practice. I worked on becoming more versatile and tried to get better ever day. It was nice to play against another team.”
