Career Development Checklist

If you are wondering what you can be doing each academic year in order to prepare for your future career, this checklist is a great place to start!   From freshman year, until the time you graduate, take steps to position yourself for success!

Freshman Year		Sophomore Year
Explore majors and career options		Update resume with Career Counselor and create a cover letter
Write a resume (see Peyton/Anissa)		Research internships that interest you for summer or next year
Volunteer 10 hours		Volunteer 10 hours
Take the Strengths Finder Assessment and know your top 5		Begin networking with professionals whose careers interest you
Attend at least one career workshop or the Job and Internship Fair		Attend Young Professionals Etiquette Dinner (optional)
		Create profile on GoldPass and/or The Edge
Junior Year		Senior Year
Attend Job and Internship Fair		Update resume and cover letter with Career Counselor
Update resume and cover letter with Career Counselor		Volunteer 10 hours
Volunteer 10 hours		Complete an internship in an area that interests you
Complete an internship during year or summer		Learn job search strategies and develop a job search plan
Attend Young Professionals Etiquette Dinner in the fall
