The Golden Gopher men's and women's cross country programs will host the 32nd annual Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights. One of the largest meets in the country, the Griak includes six collegiate races and four high school races and begins with the Suzy Wilson Women's Maroon III (Division III) Competition at 9 a.m.

|Roy Griak Remembered
2014 marked the 51st year of service to the University of Minnesota by legendary coach Roy Griak before his passing on July 9, 2015. Griak served as the head coach of the Minnesota men's cross country team from 1963-1996 and led the Gophers to three Big Ten titles (two cross country, one track & field). Griak remained on staff as an administrative assistant after handing over the reigns of the program to current Director of Men's Track & Field and Cross Country Steve Plasencia.

A native of Plymouth, Minn., Hussein signed his National Letter of Intent with the Gophers last month after winning the 2017 MSHSL Class AA Cross Country Championship.
Ali Breaks School 10K Record at NCAA Regional

Ali finished the 10-kilometer race at the ISU Cross Country Course in 29:23.06, besting Plasencia's 29:26.0 from the 1976 NCAA Championships.
