Last Time Out
The Gophers finished in a tie for third at the 2011 Big Ten Championships over the weekend. All nine runners set a new personal best time.
Senior All-American Hassan Mead finished fourth overall with a time of 23:29. Pieter Gagnon and Andrew Larsen finished 16th and 17th respectively. The pair clocked in at 24:17 and it was second time in a row that they each finished with the same time.

Senior All-American Hassan Mead’s fourth place finish earned him a spot on the Big Ten Conference First Team All-Conference list.
Hilsen Sportsmanship Award Winner
Senior Paul Hilsen was named to the Sportsmanship Award List for 2011.
Hilsen, who is a native of Lakeville, Minn., has raced in four races for the Gophers this season. His best finish on an 8k course came at this past weekend’s Big Ten Championships after he covered the course in 25:19. It was Hilsen’s personal best for the season, as he helped the Gophers finish third, at this year’s conference championships.
To be named to this list, student-athletes were chosen as individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The student-athlete must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
