Senior All-American Hassan Mead picked up his second Big Ten Runner of the Week Accolade for the season. This is also the sixth time in Mead's career he has been named Big Ten Runner of the Week.

The Minneapolis, Minn., native finished fifth overall at this past weekend's Wisconsin adidas Invitational, to help his No. 12 Minnesota Golden Gophers to a seventh place team finish.

Mead covered the 8k Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in 23:31, which was the fastest time in his Gopher career.

Over the weekend Mead was also awarded the 2011 Henry Williams Scholar-Athlete Award for the University of Minnesota. Mead was honored at a banquet on Sunday.

Moving Up in the Polls

As mentioned before, the University of Minnesota men's cross country team jumped up in the polls to No. 12 this week. Previously the Gophers were ranked No. 17 going into last weekend, but after finishing in front of four higher ranked teams at the adidas Invitational, Minnesota moved up five spots.
