atThe University of Minnesota cross country team sent a split squad to meets at St. John's and Minnesota-Duluth today. Junior Joe Corr took top honors at the St. John's Invitational with a time of 26:45 on the 8K course. Sophomore Luke Mullranin took top honors at the Lester Park Invitational in Duluth with a time of 26:51.4. The time was a new career best for Mullranin.

The squad competing at the Lester Park Invitational won the meet with 18 points. Sophomores Will McComb and Neil Hanson finished right behind Mullranin at 27:07.8 and 27:17.3 respectively. Freshman and Duluth native Brent Loberg finished in fifth place with a time of 27:46.4 in his first collegiate meet.

The squad at the St. John's Invitational finished third with a team score of 80. Junior Andrew McKessock was Minnesota's closest finisher behind Corr at eighth with a time of 27:38. Toby Henkels finished 18th in his first collegiate meet.

The Gophers have a week off before the Roy Griak Invitational, September 23 at Les Bolstad Golf Course. The Griak is one of the most prestigious cross country events in the nation. Several thousand athletes from men's and women's NCAA Division I, Division II, Division II and high school teams will participate.
