MINNEAPOLIS - The 16th Annual Roy Griak Snotty Nose Tough Golf Open and Ninth Annual Bike Ride, sponsored by the University of Minnesota men's track and field and cross country program, will be held on Monday, June 17 at Phalen Golf Course in St. Paul.
Named for legendary Gophers coach Roy Griak, who led the track and field and cross country programs at Minnesota for 33 years and continues to contribute to the program, the events benefit the Gopher men's programs including the endowed scholarship program.
The golf competition is set to begin with registration at 8 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Entry fee for the tournament is $135 per person and includes green fees, golf cart, beverages, prizes and dinner. Foursomes and groups are welcome and encouraged.
Registration for the bike ride begins at 10 a.m. with guides John Purves and Tom Wichelman set to depart at 10:30 a.m. Entry fee for the bike ride is set at $60 and also includes beverages, prizes and dinner.
A social hour will follow both events at 2 p.m. along with awards, prizes, dinner and the program. Attendees can also register for dinner for $30. A complete schedule for the day is attached.
Tee and/or green sponsorship opportunities are also available; sponsorship of $150 is 100 percent tax deductible.

Luca Wieland earned Academic All-District accolades for the third year in a row while Madeline Strandemo and Derek Wiebke picked up their first career honors.
Griak Golf/Bike Event Set for June 26
This year’s event will kick off with both the golf and bike events starting at 1 p.m. followed by a social hour at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m.
Ali, Plasencia Rep `U' At World XC
Ali finished 52nd overall in the men's U20 race, clocking a time of 26:14 for the eight-kilometer race at the Kololo Independence Grounds.
