Lucas’ title continues a stretch of success for the Maroon & Gold in Collegeville dating back to David Van Orsdel’s Fall Final title in 2006.
The University of Minnesota men's cross country program returned to action with a 12th-place finish at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational.
Gophers alum Aaron Bartnik, an All-Big Ten competitor in cross country, finished second overall in the five-kilometer race with a time of 15:03.
Competing at Les Bolstad Golf Course, Charlie Lawrence, Obsa Ali and Derek Wiebke were among the top-25 while Minnesota totaled 135 points in fourth place.
The women's six-kilometer race is slated for 11 a.m. CT with the men's 10-kilometer competition following at noon.

Redshirted • ran in three meets as an unattached competitor • opened the year with a 25th-place finish at the four-mile Oz Memorial (21:08.6) • finished 139th at the eight-kilometer Roy Griak Invitational (26:56.4) • closed out his collegiate season with an eighth-place showing at the eight-kilometer Fall Finale (26:32) • added a third-place finish at the 2016 Twin Cities 5K (15:01).
A 2016 graduate of Edina High School • earned all-state and all-conference honors in 2015 and 2016 • a three-time Lake Conference champion (twice in the 1,600 meters, one in the 800 meters) • competed for Jamie Kirkpatrick and Johnny Davis at Edina • closed out his prep career by leading Edina to a runner-up finish at the state meet including three top-four individual performances (second in the 3,200 meters, third in the 1,600 meters and fourth in the 5,000 meters) • seven-time athletic letter winner (four in cross country, three in track) • a two-time academic all-state honoree • also earned one letter in community service • holds Edina school records in the 1,600 meters (4:13) and the 4x800 meter relay (7:52) • competed with the Edina Cross Country Club, earning all-region honors at Nike Cross Regionals and advancing to Nike Cross Nationals • competed with the Edina Track Club and ran at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor.
