Golden Gopher Career Notes: Gained All-American status for his role on the Gophers' bronze medalist DMR team at the NCAA Indoor Championships advanced to 2010 NCAA quarterfinals in 800 meters ranks third on Minnesota list in indoor 800 meters (1:49.48) ranks seventh on Minnesota list in outdoor 800 meters (1:49.30).
2011 Junior Season: Competed in five meets represented Minnesota at the Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships as the seventh-best on the roster, clocking 34:09.52 raced the Big Ten Championships in 25:14, good for seventh on the team placed sixth on the team running 25:58 at the Wisconsin Adidas 8K competed in the Roy Griak Invitational, running seventh on the team in 25:21.6 clocked the Gophers' third-best time (19:50.45) at the Oz Memorial 6K
2010 Sophomore Season: Competed at the Jim Drews Invite and finished 28th overall with a time of 25:29.7.
2009 Redshirt Freshman Season: Competed in four meets won St. Olaf Opener with a time of 15:39 Gophers' number-three runner (19:31.64), seventh overall, in Oz Memorial Run.
2008 Freshman Season: Redshirted the season.
On the Track: Will be a sophomore in 2011 advanced to 2010 NCAA quarterfinal in 800 meters placed third in the event in Big Ten Championships varsity letterwinner.
High School: A 2008 graduate of Eastview High School high school coach was Tom Sharp a four-time all-state performer in cross country and track placed 19th overall in the 2007 Minnesota Class AA Cross Country Championships leading Eastview to a fifth-place finish finished 25th as a junior earned all-state honors in the 800 meters in 2008 with a seventh-place finish (1:53.15) also a member of the seventh-place 4x800-meter relay as a senior earned four letters in cross country and track, one in hockey graduated with high honors.
Personal: Born July 22, 1989 arcitecture and design major son of Dave Burkstrand and Anne Flahavan has siblings Andrew and Kenzie enjoys art and snowboarding.
