The Gophers wrestling team will host the Minnesota Wrestling Kick-Off this Saturday at 11:30 a.m. CST at the Bierman Gym on campus. Fans are invited to attend the free practice portion of Saturday's event from 11:30-12:30, followed by a lunch from 1-2 p.m., before the Minnesota Golden Gopher football team takes on the Iowa Hawkeyes in battle of the “Floyd Rosedale” trophy at TCF Bank Stadium at 2:30 p.m.
The kick-off will also give Gopher fans a glimpse at Minnesota's incoming freshman class. The year’s freshman class features Brenton Beard, Alex Daugherty, Brad Dolezal, Steven Keogh, Jordan Kingsley, Tony Morrow, Zach Stepan, Logan Storley and Jonathon Volp.
Minnesota opens the 2011-12 season on Saturday Nov. 12 at the Bison Open in Fargo, N.D. The following weekend the Gophers will travel to the east coast to take on Cornell on Thursday Nov. 18 and the defending national champions, Penn State on Sunday Nov. 20. The match against the Nittany Lions will be broadcasted live on the Big Ten Network at 11 a.m. CST.
