The 2007 NCAA champion University of Minnesota wrestling team and the Gopher Takedown Club will hold their annual awards banquet on Sunday, Apr. 15, 2007, at the Four Points Sheraton in Minneapolis.

Powered by five All-Americans and nine total NCAA qualifiers, the Golden Gophers captured the third national title in program history at the 2007 NCAA Championships, finishing 9.5 points ahead of Iowa State. Senior heavyweight Cole Konrad capped off his brilliant career by becoming the fourth two-time individual champion and fifth four-time All-American in school history. Junior Roger Kish and sophomore Dustin Schlatter both earned their second All-America distinction, while junior C.P. Schlatter and redshirt freshman collected their first.

Two weeks prior to the national tournament, the Gophers ran away with their second straight Big Ten Championship and sixth in the last nine years. Minnesota crowned four individual champions for the second straight year en route to the title, with Konrad and the Schlatter brothers both winning their second individual titles in as many years. Ness joined them as a first-time winner.

Konrad earned Big Ten Wrestler of the Year honors for the second time in as many years, while Ness became the third straight Gopher rookie to win the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award. Head Coach J Robinson was also named the Big Ten Coach of the Year for the seventh time in his 21 years with the Minnesota wrestling program.
