MINNEAPOLIS -- For the second week in a row, redshirt junior Dylan Ness has been named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week. Ness helped the Golden Gophers capture their third consecutive National Duals title by winning all three of his bouts and adding 15 team points over the course of the weekend.
The No. 1 Gophers defeated No. 20 North Dakota State (35-3), No. 13 Ohio State (25-10) and No. 4 Cornell (24-15) en route to the championship. In those duals, Ness recorded two falls by pinning Nicholas Olejnik of NDSU (4:14) and No. 10 Brian Relabuto of Cornell (1:13). He also won by decision over Randall Languis of Ohio State, 8-4.
Ness has won seven of his last eight bouts and three of the last four by pinning his opponents. In the latest InterMat rankings, Ness still sits at No. 5 in his respective weight class.
This is the second weekly honor of his career and the fourth for the Gophers this season as redshirt freshman Sam Brancale and redshirt junior Scott Schiller have both been honored for their contributions to the success of the Maroon and Gold this season.
