No. 3 Minnesota Back In Action at Southern Scuffle

The No. 3 Minnesota wrestling team is back action this week at the Southern Scuffle, hosted by the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga (UTC) in Chattanooga, Tenn. The two-day event will begins today, Jan. 1, and will run through Jan. 2.

Minnesota has not wrestled since Dec. 8 when they edged Oregon State, 21-18, at the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minn.

The Southern Scuffle is one of the largest in-season tournaments in college wrestling. Of the 23 teams scheduled to appear, 16 are currently ranked in the Intermat College Rankings Top-54 and seven are listed in the NWCA/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Top-25.  Highlighted by defending NCAA Champion and first-ranked Penn State, the field also includes No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 6 (T) Missouri, No. 8 Cornell, No. 11 Virginia Tech, and No. 20 Virginia. 

Other ranked teams include No. 26 The Citadel, No. 27 Arizona State, No. 30 Air Force, No. 31 (T) North Carolina, No. 42 (T) Army, No. 44 Navy, No. 45 (T) Chattanooga, No. 48 (T) Ohio, and No. 51 (T) American. Among the seven remaining teams sits Appalachian State, Campbell, Cleveland State, Duke, NC State, Northern Colorado, South Dakota State.
