The No. 3 Gopher wrestling team is currently in second place after the first day of action at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tenn. Minnesota finished the first day with 110.5 team points. Penn State leads the 22-team field with 118 points.
Eight Gophers are currently undefeated (4-0) after the first day of action and are still alive for an individual championship. 125 lbs. Zach Sanders, 133 lbs. David Thorn, 133 lbs. Chris Dardanes, 149 lbs. Dylan Ness, 165 lbs. Cody Yohn, 184 lbs. Kevin Steinhaus, 197 lbs. Sonny Yohn and Hwt. Tony Nelson.
Other wrestlers competing and who are in the consolation bracket of their respective weight classes are: 125 lbs. Corey Hodowanic (3-2), 133 lbs. Randy Hanson (3-2), 141 lbs.
