The University of Minnesota men’s track and field team hits the road again this weekend at two different locations. Half of the squad will head south for the Iowa Musco Twilight (Saturday) in Iowa City, while others will head back to California for the Mt. Sac Relays (Thursday-Saturday).

THE VENUE OUT WEST
Hilmer Lodge Stadium will once again be the host of this year’s Mt. Sac Relays. The stadium can hold 13,500 people and has hosted 20 world records and two Olympic Trials.
ATOP THE B1G FOR HEGERLE
Micah Hegerle currently ranks first in the Big Ten Conference in the hammer throw. Hegerle’s mark of 207-4 (63.20m) was set at the Aztec Invitational last month.

NEXT WEEKEND
Next week the Golden Gophers will take part in the 103rd edition of the Drake Relays from April 25-28, 2012. Action takes place on the campus of Drake University in Des Moines, IA.
THE GOLDEN GOPHER COACHING STAFF
Steve Plasencia enters his fourth season as the Golden Gophers head men's track & field coach. Plasencia was Plasencia was awarded his fifth consecutive Big Ten Coach of the Year award, adding the 2011 indoor accolade to those from the 2009 and 2010 indoor and outdoor seasons. Plasencia heads an extremely experienced coaching staff that includes assistants Scott Berggren, Paul Thornton, Lynden Reder, Steve White and Roy Griak.
