The Minnesota men’s track and field team will travel to the west coast for the 38th running of the Stanford Invitational. Action will take place this Friday, in Palo Alto, CA with all of the running events at the Cobb Track & Angell Field starting at 11 a.m. PT, with the 5,000 meter run. Field events are scheduled to begin Saturday morning at 9 a.m. PT with the javelin throw.
A portion of the squad will stay behind this weekend and compete at the Hamline Invitational in St. Paul on Friday afternoon. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m. CT with the field events.
Micah Hegerle's hammer throw mark of 207-04 (63.20m) currently sits at 11th in the NCAA. Dominique Howard's discus toss of 181-7 (55.34m) at last weekends Texas Relays is the 17th best throw in the country.

Steve Plasencia enters his fourth season as the Golden Gophers head men's track & field coach. Plasencia was awarded his fifth consecutive Big Ten Coach of the Year award, adding the 2011 indoor accolade to those from the 2009 and 2010 indoor and outdoor seasons. Plasencia heads an extremely experienced coaching staff that includes assistants Scott Berggren, Paul Thornton, Lynden Reder, Steve White and Roy Griak.
