Minnesota freshman Hunter Lucas finished 22nd in the Men's U20 eight-kilometer race at the 2018 NACAC Cross Country Championships last weekend in El Salvador. Lucas clocked a time of 27:08.0 after qualifying for the race with a fourth-place finish in the Junior Men’s 8K at the USA Cross Country Championships. The Gophers have now been represented at two-straight NACAC Cross Country Championships with Nick Rink finishing eighth last year in Boca Raton, Fla., as the U.S. Under-20 Men’s Team claimed a gold medal.

The Maroon & Gold return six All-Americans to the 2018 roster in Ryan Lockard (High Jump: 2016), Brad Neumann (4x400: 2016). Shane Streich (DMR: 2017), Jackson Wellenstein (DMR: 2017, 4x400: 2017), Derek Wiebke (DMR: 2017) and Obsa Ali (3KS: 2017).
'U' Breaks Ground on T&F Facility
The University of Minnesota officially broke ground on a new outdoor track & field venue on Friday, Oct. 20. The new stadium will feature a nine-lane track with three chutes, full field event hosting capabilities, and a design to allow sprints and certain field events to be held in multiple directions to take advantage of wind conditions on competition days. These features, along with permanent and event-based seating, provide the flexibility and the amenities to host a wide variety of meets.
