BROOKINGS, S.D. – The University of Minnesota men’s track & field program closed out its first competition of the season on Saturday with a trio of Gophers competing in the heptathlon at the SDSU Holiday Open, held over the last two days at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

The Maroon & Gold posted three of the top-four heptathlon finishes over the two-day meet with newcomer Teddy Frid leading the Gophers with a runner-up finish at 5,280 points. Jacob Buller came in third at 4,965 points, and John Uchytil finished fourth with 4,860 points.
