The Minnesota men’s track and field team competed at the Arizona State Invitational on Saturday. No team score was kept, but the Golden Gophers recorded three second place finishes. Marcus Paulson clocked a time of 14:43.55 in the 5,000-meter, while the 4x100-meter Relay (Jacob Capek, Sean King, Cameron Boy, Ryan Todhunter) ran a 40.87 and the Gophers 4x400-meter Relay (Capek, Boy, Kevin Bradley, John Holton) finished with a time of 3:11.53.
Minnesota would record a total of nine top-five finishes on the afternoon.
Todhunter also picked up a fourth place finish in the 110-meter Hurdles, finishing in 14.79 and Derek Jerde cleared 6-8 ¾ (2.05m) to take fourth in the high jump.
In Minnesota’s first 3,000-meter Steeplechase of the outdoor season, Bob Nicolls and Derek Storkel each finished in the top-five. Nicolls clocked a time of 9:12.26 for a fourth place finish, while Storkel came in at 9:14.95.
Minnesota’s runners will take the next weekend off, but the throwers will compete at the Texas Relays on March 30-31.

Blankenship, Mead Shine in Olympic Finals
Mead and Blankenship recorded the best Olympic finishes by Gophers since Staffan Strand finished sixth in the high jump for Sweden during the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
