SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Gophersports.com) -- The Gophers' distance medley relay (DMR) team of Alex Brend, Bradley Johnson, Goaner Deng and John Simons ran the third-fastest time in program history on Saturday at the Alex Wilson Invite.
Minnesota's only competitors at the Notre Dame-hosted meet, the DMR squad clocked a 9:31.94 to finish seventh in a talented field.
The Gophers DMR record of 9:29.92 was actually set at the Alex Wilson Invite last season, however all four members of last year's relay team (Harun Abda, Travis Burkstrand, Cameron Boy and Nick Hutton) were lost to graduation after last season.
Saturday's competition marks the final meet for Minnesota before next week's Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
