MINNEAPOLIS – Three unattached Gopher competitors claimed event titles at St. Thomas’ The Opener on Friday night at Anderson Fieldhouse.
Among the Maroon & Gold competitors were titles from Zach Nelson in the 200 meters (22.43), Clayton Johnson in the 600 meters (1:21.94) and Anthony Fleischfresser in the high jump (2.00 meters, 6-06.75 ft.).
Meanwhile, Mike Herauf was the runner-up in the pole vault via jump off (4.70 meters, 15-05.00 ft.) while Johnathan Johnson finished third in the long jump (6.84 meters, 22-05.25 ft.). Kaleb Siekmeier was fourth in the weight throw (16.03 meters, 22-05.25 ft.), and Collin Sieffert was sixth in the 600 meters (1:25.72).
The Border Battle comes to town on Saturday as the Maroon & Gold host the Minnesota/Wisconsin Dual at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse on campus.
