The Gophers contingency will head to the West region preliminary meet in Austin, Texas (University of Texas) with competition set for May 23-25. Qualifiers from the west regional will compete at the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
A small contingency of distance runners closed out a hectic weekend for the Gopher men's outdoor track and field team at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational.
The Gophers will compete in four meets this weekend including the 104th Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
2012 Season - Indoor: Ran the fourth-fastest time in school history and finished fourth in the 800 meters at the Big Ten Championships with a time of 1:48.68 • also led off the distance medley relay team that ran 9:50.51 • finished third in the 400m at the Bill Bergan Invite (48.24) • ran a 1:49.35 in the 800m at the Husky Classic. Outdoor: Ran a season-best time of 3:43.16 in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Championships • finished ninth (3:46.64) in the 1,500m at the Big Ten Championships • ran the third leg of the 4x800 meter relay team that won the Drake Relays with a time of 7:19.02 • led off the distance medley relay team that won the Drake Relays and set the school record • ran a 3:44.64 in the 1,500 meters at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays.
2011 Season - Indoor:won the 800 meters at the Bill Bergan Invite with a time of 1:50.97 • picked up another first place finish at the Jack Johnson Classic (1:51.04) • led off the Gophers distance medley relay team that broke a school record (9:29.70) at the NCAA championships.Outdoor:took third in the 800 meters (1:48.73) at the Big Ten championships • ran the third leg in the 4x800-meter relay (7:19.51) which broke the school record and won first place at the Drake Relays • also led off the distance medley relay (9:38.09) at the Drake Relays that took first place • letterwinner All-American.
2010 Season -Indoor: Competed in two meets • won the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.67. Outdoor: Did not compete.
2009 Season - Redshirted the indoor and outdoor seasons. Cross Country - Competed in four races in 2009.
High School: A 2008 graduate of Apple Valley High School • high school coach was Rollie Greeno • three-time all-state performer in his senior track season • anchored the 2008 Minnesota Class AA champion 4x800-meter relay that clocked an all-class state record of 7:45.31 • placed fifth in the 800 meters (1:53.08) and anchored eighth-place 4x400-meter relay • 4x800m relay was 2007 runner-up • did not run cross country in high school • played soccer • all-state as a senior • scored five goals and 15 assists in 2007 helping team to a 19-2-2 record • helped soccer team to state title as a junior and a third-place finish as a senior • 2008 Apple Valley HS Male Athlete of the Year.
