The best track & field athletes in the country will compete to qualify for the IAAF World Championships to be held in London Aug. 4-13.
Meanwhile, the Maroon & Gold locked up a pair of Second Team All-America honors on Wednesday from Nate Roese and Obsa Ali.
The Minnesota 4x100 meter relay squad of Jordan Charles, Brad Neumann, Jordan Webb and Luca Wieland clocked a 39.80 to finish 16th in the event while the mark just edged the previous University of Minnesota record from 2000 when Matt Taylor, Steve Burkholder, Adam Freed and Fred Rodgers ran a 39.95.
Mitch Hechsel and Nate Roese both clocked personal records in the 800 meters and Obsa Ali added a sixth-place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase to qualify for the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships next month in Eugene, Ore.
