NCAA Midwest Region Championship competitor in the 800 meters in 2009.

2012 Season - Indoor: Won the 800 meters at the Snowshoe Open with a time of 1:53.58 • also competed in the 800m at the Bill Bergan Invite (1:52.62) • finished third in the 1,000m at the Holiday Inn Invitational with a time of 2:30.10 • ran the third leg on the distance medley relay team that finished second at the Holiday Inn Invitational (10:03.83). Outdoor: Competed in a total of six events for the outdoor season • anchored the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay team that ran the sixth-fastest time in school history at the Drake Relays (3:23.69) • finished fifth in the 800m at the Golden Bear Twilight with a time of 1:52.34 • placed sixth in the 1,500m at the Hamline Invite (3:54.10) • Academic All-Big Ten.

2011 Season Indoor:competed in the mile run at the Northwest Open and placed first (4:18.57)Outdoor:competed in the 1,500 meters at the St. Thomas Quad and placed fifth (3:59.04)

2010 Season
: Ran in five meets • placed sixth in the 800 meters (1:52.72) at the Big Ten Championships • clocked a season-best time of 1;51.12 in the 800m at the Iowa State Classic. Outdoor: Competed in five meets • competed in the 800 meters at the Big Ten meet • top 800m time was 1:50.42 at the Peyton Jordan Cardinal Invitational • an Academic All-Big Ten honoree • earned second varsity letter.

2009 Season - Indoor: Competed in six meets • clocked top time of 1:54.06 in 800 meters at Iowa State Classic. Outdoor: An NCAA Midwest Region Championships competitor in the 800 meters • ran a time of 1:51.47 in prelim • placed sixth in Big Ten meet in the 800m (1:51.44) • clocked a season-best time of 1:50.26 at the Minnesota Open • Academic All-Big Ten • varsity letterwinner.

2008 Season:
Redshirted the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Cross Country:
A two-year member of the team • ran in two meets in 2008..

A 2007 graduate Arrowhead High School • coach was Mike Mulrooney • a three-time all-state honoree, twice in track and field and once for cross country • placed third in the 800 meters at the Division I state meet • member of the sprint medley relay that finished third at the Nike Outdoor Nationals • lettered four times in cross country and track & field.

Born February 21, 1989 • mechanical engineering major • parents are Tom and Madonna McFarland • has a twin brother, Tim, and older brother Mike, ran for the Gophers • enjoys watching movies, playing frisbee, and riding rollercoasters.
