A small contingency of distance runners closed out a hectic weekend for the Gopher men's outdoor track and field team at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational.
Both teams were named team of the year, coach of the year and top athlete
2012 Season - Indoor: Ran the 10th-fastest time in school history and finished fifth (unseeded) in the 3,000 meters at the Husky Classic with a time of 8:12.44 • ran a 4:18.52 mile at the Bill Bergan Invite. Outdoor: Finished 13th (30:26.76) in the 10,000 meters at the Big Ten Championships • finished third in the 5,000m at the Drake Relays with a time of 14:09.71 • also competed in the 5,000 meters at the Stanford Invite, finishing in 14:15.39.
2011 Season Indoor:run at the Husky Classic in the 3,000 meters and finished with a time of 8:19.11• competed at the Bill Bergan invitational in the 3,000 meters and finished fourth (8:20.66)Outdoor:Ran at the Macalester Twilight in the 1,500 meters and finished third (3:55.42) •ran at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in the 1,500 meters and finished seventh (3:58.59) competed at the St. Thomas Quad in the 5,000 meters and finished first (14:30.67).
High School: A 2009 of Marmion Academy • high school coach was Dan Billish • a two-time all-state runner in cross country • placed eighth in the Illinois Class 3A Cross Country Championships as a senior • earned all-state as a senior in track • placed fourth in the 3,200 meters (9:10.04) • also competed in the 1,600 meters • a four-time letterwinner in both cross country and track • an honor roll student.
