For the second year in a row, the University of Minnesota men’s track & field program will head back to campus with nine event titles after posting an impressive weekend at UCLA’s Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and Jim Bush Legends Invitational.
The Maroon & Gold were led runner-up showings by Sammie Houston in the triple jump, Ryan Lockard in the high jump and Alec Basten in the 2,000 meter steeplechase.
New outdoor track and field stadium nestled in among existing facilities on the East Bank campus will give the University its first competition-level outdoor facility in nearly 15 years
Jordan Charles, Ryan Lockard, Shane Streich, Derek Wiebke and Luca Wieland represented Minnesota on the individual honor roll.
The Minnesota 4x100 meter relay squad of Jordan Charles, Brad Neumann, Jordan Webb and Luca Wieland clocked a 39.80 to finish 16th in the event while the mark just edged the previous University of Minnesota record from 2000 when Matt Taylor, Steve Burkholder, Adam Freed and Fred Rodgers ran a 39.95.

Indoor: Competed for the Golden Gophers at the Northwest Open (winning the 800 meter), the Wisconsin Duel, the Iowa State Classic, and the B1G Indoor Championships. Outdoor: Ran in events at the Baldy Castillo Invitational and at the Musco Twilight. • Led the Gophers to victory in the 4x800 meter relay at the Drake Relays with a time of 7:23.54 • earned first letter.

Indoor: At the 2014 Northwest Open competed unattached in the 800 meters and finsihed 3rd with a time of 1:55.66 • placed 12th at the Jack Johnson Classic in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.69 while competing unattached • competed unattached at the Snowshoe Open in the 800 meters and placed second with a time of 1:52.85. Outdoor: At the 2014 Musco Twilight finished 7th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.95 • unattached at the 2014 Hamline Invitational won the 1500 meters with a time of 3:55.19.
Graduated from Kasson-Montorville Senior High School with high honors in 2013 • the 2013 MSHSL Class AA runner-up in the 800 meters, finishing in 1:53 • competed in three events at the 2013 state meet and also placed in the meet as a sophomore in 2011 • won a total of six conference titles as a prep including four in his senior season • high school coaches were Erik Myran and Travis Robertson • a three-time alll-conference honoree (twice in track, once in cross country) • earned a total of six athletic letters as a prep (four in track, one in cross country, one in basketball).
