Hegerle, Mege Earn All-America Honors, Simons Advances in 1,500 Meters

The Minnesota men's outdoor track and field team picked up its first two All-America honors of the season on Thursday as Micah Hegerle and Quentin Mege placed sixth and 12th, respectively, in the hammer throw.

Gophers Will Send 4x400, Seven Individuals to NCAA Championships

The Minnesota men's outdoor track and field team will send seven individuals as well as the program's 4x400 relay team to the NCAA championships next month in Oregon.

Minnesota Set for NCAA West Prelims in Austin

The Gophers contingency will head to the West region preliminary meet in Austin, Texas (University of Texas) with competition set for May 23-25. Qualifiers from the west regional will compete at the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.

High School -A 2011 graduate of Rosemount High School • high school coaches were Chris Harder, Jay Hatlei and John Maresh • 4x400 relay team finished second at the state championships his sophomore and junior seasons •qualified for the state championships in the 400m, 2x200 and 4x400 his junior year • high school top times: 200m (22.00), 400m (49.12), 800m (1:57) •lettered three years in track, two in both football and basketball • Honor Roll student and Academic Achievement Award winner as a junior and senior.
