A Bismarck, N.D. native and the 2014-15 Gatorade North Dakota Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year, Tharaldsen paced the shot put field with his winning toss of 18.18 meters (59-07.75 ft.).
Donnelly was one of six Gophers throwers in action at the meet – all of whom posted top-10 finishes.
The Gophers close out the weekend on Saturday, continuing action at the Virginia Challenge while also sending a contingency of competitors to the Carlelton Relays in Northfield, Minn.

Indoor Season: In shot put competition, placed fourth three times (Minnesota Open, Wisconsin Dual, and Snowshoe Open) including setting a new personal record of 16.74 meters at the Wisconsin Duel. • Placed 23rd at the B1G Indoor Championships. Outdoor: In discus play had top finishes at the Hamline Twilight placing fourth and placing fifth in the Tom Cat Twilight. • In the shot put, finished fourth at the Carelton Relays and third in the Golden Bear Twilight.

Indoor: Did not compete. Outdoor: Unattached at the Hamline Invitational placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 14.02 meters (46-00.00) and sixth in the discus with a throw of 50.04 meters (164-02). • Placed second unattached in the shot put at the 2014 Holst Invitational with a throw of 14.50 meters (47-07.00). • Unattached at the Carelton Relays finished second in the discus with a throw of 48.26 meters (158-04). • Unattached at the SMU Cardinal Open finished 9th in the shot put with a throw of 12.76 meters (41-10.50) and won the jr. discus with a throw of 53.40 meters (175-02). • Won the discus unattached at the Tom Cat Twilight with a throw of 49.21 meters (161-05). •Won the jr. discus unattached at the Musco Twilight with a throw of 54.98 meters (180-04). • Placed 8th unattached in the discus at the USATF Jr. Championships with a throw of 55.05 meters (180-07).
