The Minnesota 4x100 meter relay squad of Jordan Charles, Brad Neumann, Jordan Webb and Luca Wieland clocked a 39.80 to finish 16th in the event while the mark just edged the previous University of Minnesota record from 2000 when Matt Taylor, Steve Burkholder, Adam Freed and Fred Rodgers ran a 39.95.
The Maroon & Gold will compete in nine events at the regional while decathlete Luca Wieland has already punched his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 7-10, in Eugene, Ore.
Minnesota featured 11 individual scorers at the Big Ten meet -- six of those scorers contributed in multiple events.
Minnesota will close out the conference competition, held at Penn State’s Nittany Lion Outdoor Track, on Sunday.
The Maroon & Gold continue the 2017 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Penn State's Nittany Lion Outdoor Track.

Indoor: At the 2014 Northwest Open took home the title in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.23 seconds • at the 2014 Jack Johnson Classic placed 29th in the 60 meter while competing unattached with a time of 7.17 seconds • at the same event won the 200 meter dash unattached with a time of 22.06 seconds • at the Snowshoe Open, competed unattached in the 60 meter and placed first with a time of 6.94 seconds • at the same event, finished first while competing unattached in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.02 seconds. A three-time Academic All-American, Wieland represented the Maroon & Gold on the Second Team while Wiebke picked up his first career honor as a Third Team selection.
