Ohio State's Vincent Ng defeated Minnesota's Thomas Haug, 6-4, 6-4, this afternoon in the finals of the Big Ten Singles Championship at the Baseline Tennis Center. Ng was seeded seventh in the tournament, while Haug was seeded third.

Haug opened each set with a break of Ng's serve, but could not hold the advantage either time. Leading 5-4, Ng broke Haug's serve to claim the first set, 6-4. The second set ended the same way for Ng as he broke Haug's serve to clinch the match, 6-4.

Earlier in the morning, Haug defeated teammate Manuel Lievano, 6-3, 7-5, in one semifinal matchup. Haug jumped ahead 3-0 en route to the 6-3 first-set victory. In the second, Haug broke Lievano's serve to make it 6-5 and then closed out the match, 7-5.

Ng defeated No. 2 Aleksey Zharinov of Minnesota in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (2) in the other semifinal. Zharinov fought off four match points and knotted the second set at six. Ng closed out the match with six straight points to take the tiebreaker, 7-2.
