All three of Minnesota’s round of 16 qualifiers lost in straight sets to seeded opponents at Sunday’s Big Ten men’s tennis singles championships in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Gophers’ freshman Tobais Wernet, the 10th seed, lost to top-seeded Matko Maravic of Michigan 6-4, 6-3 for a berth in the quarterfinals.
Minnesota freshman Sebastian Gallego was the 13th seed and was eliminated by fifth-seeded Nolan Polley of Wisconsin 6-3, 6-2. Gophers’ sophomore Dino Bilankov, who knocked off the third seed in Saturday’s first round, lost to ninth-seeded Dara McLoughlin of Indiana 6-3, 6-2.
Pierre Dumas lost a second-round consolation match to Michigan State’s Scott Rasumussen 4-6, 6-3 (10-8).
