Minnesota concludes its fall men’s tennis season this weekend as the Gophers take part in the Big Ten singles championship at Ann Arbor, Mich. The meet begins with qualifying on Friday and runs through the championship match on Monday.
A 32-player qualifying tournament will be held on Friday with the top eight finishers advancing to the 64-player main draw on Saturday. The first and second rounds of the main draw are scheduled to begin Saturday at 8 a.m. The third round and quarterfinals will be played on Sunday beginning at 11:30 a.m. The tournament will conclude with the semifinals and championship match on Monday at 9 a.m. There will be a consolation bracket for first and second round losers.
Minnesota has four players competing in the main draw. Senior Pierre Dumas, sophomore Dino Bilankov and freshmen Tobias Wernet and Sebastian Gallego received automatic berths into the main bracket. Junior Adam Altepeter and freshman Derek Peterson will compete in the qualifying rounds.
This weekend’s tournament will be Minnesota’s final competition of the fall season. The spring season will begin with the Purdue Invitational on Jan. 19.
