National talent will be flocking to Minneapolis, Minn. this weekend to vie for the ITA Regional Championships as the Gophers will host the sanctioned event for the central region at the Baseline Tennis Center on Oct. 18-22.
The University of Minnesota welcomes student-athletes from Oklahoma, Tulsa, Drake, Arkansas, Nebraska, Wichita State, Oklahoma State, Bradley, Southern Illinois-Carbondale, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Iowa, University of Missouri-Kansas City, Western Illinois, Creighton, South Dakota State, and St. Louis.
Qualifying rounds will begin on Oct. 18 with three rounds of singles competition. The first round will be an eight-game pro-set, while the second and third round matches are two out of three sets with a tie-break in lieu of a third set. There will be one round of consolation singles.
The main draw starts on Friday, Oct. 19 with two rounds of doubles followed by one round of singles. Quarterfinals begin on Sunday, Oct. 21. The tournament will wrap up on Monday with singles and doubles finals.
