iThe University of Minnesota men's tennis team opened play at the Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wis., today with mixed showings in singles action. The tournament which continues through Sunday is conducted in a hidden dual format with the Golden Gophers facing Wisconsin, Drake, Iowa, Marquette and Northern Illinois in both singles and doubles.
Today, the Maroon and Gold went 4-8 in singles matches against the host Badgers and Drake. Versus Bucky, Minnesota went 1-5 with the lone win coming in Sion Wilkins' 4-6, 6-1, (10-8) triumph over Nolan Polley. In the dual vs. Wisconsin, three of the six matches went to the match tiebreaker.
Tomorrow, the Maroon and Gold is scheduled for singles matches against Iowa, and doubles matches against Drake and Wisconsin.
