University of Minnesota men's tennis players Nic Edlefsen and D.J. Geatz went a collective 0-2 today at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., as Edlefsen lost in consolation singles play and the doubles duo of Edlefsen and Geatz fell in the round of 32. Geatz is next in action in the singles main draw on Thursday, Oct. 5.

In doubles play, Edlefsen and Geatz advanced out of the round of 64 with a walkover when the seventh-seeded duo of Mohamed Abid and Chris Surapol and UCLA bowed out of the tournament. In the second round against North Carolina State's Nick Cavaday and William Noblitt, the Golden Gopher duo fell behind 7-3 before breaking serve to cut the advantage to 7-5. Cavaday and Noblitt broke back, however, to take the match, 8-5.

In consolation singles action, Edlefsen fell to 0-2 for the tournament with a 3-6, 6-3, (10-7) loss to Connor Pollack of Texas A&M.

The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships are being hosted at the University of Tulsa’s Michael D. Case Tennis Center, from October 5-8. The tournament includes five days of qualifying events that precede the October 5-8 main draw. A 128-player pre-qualifying tournament takes place Sept. 30-Oct. 1. This feeds into 128-player and 64-doubles team qualifying tournaments Oct. 2-5, which then feeds into the 64-player, 32-doubles team main draws.

The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships offer the first national singles and doubles titles of the 2006-07 collegiate tennis season, and are followed by the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November.
