Gopher Men's Tennis will have a pair of players representing the Maroon & Gold at the 2017 St. Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championship next week in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Gopher Participants
Seniors Matic Spec and Felix Corwin will be in action for Minnesota in Tulsa. Spec was selected to the main draw singles while he and Corwin entered together in the qualifying doubles. Corwin was pooled in as a qualifying singles competitor. The duo each competed at the ITA All-American in the past, with Spec owning a 1-2 record in singles competition and Corwin at 3-2 after advancing to the third round of qualifying singles a season ago.

Tournament Format
The All-American features both singles and doubles draws. The singles main draw is a 64-player tournamanent, beginning Thursday, includes 48 automatic, at-large, and wild card selections along with 16 players from the Qualifying tournament. Automatic entries include the returning champion, ITA National Summer Champion, two players per region, and every player returning from the top-20 of the year-end ITA rankings.

The Qualifying singles draw, beginning Monday, includes 112 automatic, at-large, and wild card selections and 16 players from the pre-qualifying tournament. Players must win three rounds to gain a spot in the main draw. Pre-qualifying singles rounds begin this week and work the same way with winners advancing to the qualifying rounds.

The 32-team All-American Doubles Main draw includes 24 automatic, at-large, and wild card selections and eight teams from Qualifying doubles and begins Tuesday. Like the singles Qualifying draw, teams must win a minimum of three matches to advance to the Main draw.

All players are guaranteed at least two matches, with first-round losers in Qualifying and Pre-Qualifying moving to a single round of consolation. The Main Draw for both doubles and singles features a full Consolation bracket with a Consolation Championship taking place alongside the Main Draw Championships on Monday, Oct. 9.
