Pepperdine Eliminates Minnesota 4-0 at NCAA Men's Tennis Championships

Texas No. 8 Pepperdine defeated No. 22 Minnesota 4-0 in the second round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships in Malibu, Calif. The Waves advance to the Round of 16 next weekend in College Station, Texas.

Pepperdine won the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Minnesota's Harsh Mankad and Thomas Haug upset No. 14 Johan Berg and Al Garland at No. 1 doubles, 8-6.

The Waves clinched the win with victories at No. 2, 3 and 4 singles. Johan Berg earned the team win with his 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles over Manuel Lievano. Fourth-ranked Harsh Mankad's match with No. 3 Al Garland at No. 1 singles was suspended after Pepperdine clinched the team victory.

The Golden Gophers finish the year with a 17-8 record. Mankad and Thomas Haug will compete next week at the NCAA Doubles Championship in College Station, Texas. Mankad will also compete in singles competition.
