oneUniversity of Minnesota men's tennis standouts Thomas Haug and Martin Michalowski were chosen as one of two At-Large doubles teams to represent Region IV at the NCAA Indvidual Tennis Championships Wednesday- Sunday, May 24-28.
The individual field will consist of 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams with the championships to be held at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.
Haug and Michalowski, Minnesota's No. 1 doubles pair, combined for an overall record of 19-13 on the year and currently rank 27th in the ITA's National Doubles Poll. In addition, the duo is the first doubles team to reach the NCAA Championships since 1993-1994 when the Golden Gopher tandem of Paul Pridmore and Adam Krafft competed at the NCAAs in Notre Dame, Ind. That year, Pridmore and Krafft were defeated by Southern California's Wayne Black and Jon Leach 7-6 (7), 6-3 in first round play.
Joining Haug and Michalowski as the other Region IV At-Large doubles pick is Illinois' Jeff Laski and Jamal Parker.
