Senior Sebastian Gallego is one of six international students on the eleven man tennis roster. The Colombia native is also the seventh player in Minnesota history to be named MVP in back-to-back seasons.
While Gallego has been slowed by a foot injury he suffered during the season, there's no time like the present for him to shake the injury bug as they prepare to end their season with an exclamation point.
"Unfortunately I've been injured for over a month but now I've recovered from my foot injury," Gallego said. "Let's hope we finish strong with the Big Ten tournament and then the NCAA's. Hopefully we're able to make the sweet 16."
Over the weekend the Gallego and the third seeded Gophers placed second at the Big Ten Tournament in Wisconsin. The Gophers are now playing the waiting game for Tuesday night's NCAA selection show.
Head Coach Geoff Young feels confident in Minnesota's chances.
"I don't think there's any way we can't with what our ranking is right now," Young said.
