UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA MEN'S TENNIS TEAM EARNS BID TO NCAA TOURNAMENT

Miam The Golden Gopher men's tennis team (12-11) earned an at-large bid to the 64-team NCAA Tournament. Minnesota will face No. 15 Alabama on Saturday, May 12, in Coral Gables, Fla. The University of Miami, Fla., is the host of the four-team regional and is ranked 11th in the nation. The Hurricanes will face Charleston Southern. The winners will meet in the second round on Sunday, May 13.

In addition, sophomore Harsh Mankad earned a bid to the NCAA Singles Champion-ships. Mankad also earned a bid to the NCAA Doubles Championships with teammate Jorge Duenas. The duo is currently ranked 29th in the nation. The seedings for the singles and doubles championships will be determined on May 22.

Minnesota is one of five teams from the Big Ten to reach the NCAA Tournament. Big Ten champion Illinois is the highest seed from the league. The Fighting Illini is seeded 10th and will host its first and second round matches.
