The Golden Gophers (15-8, 5-5 Big Ten) are the No. 6 seed for this weekend’s 2007 Big Ten Championship in West Lafayette, Ind. Minnesota, ranked 37th in the nation, will face No. 11 seed Purdue (8-13, 1-9) on Thursday, April 26 at 12 p.m., in the first round. Minnesota edged the Boilermakers, 4-3, on Sunday to wrap up the regular season. With a win over Purdue, the Maroon and Gold would advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 3 seed Illinois (16-7, 8-2) on Friday, April 27 at 2 p.m. The top five seeds in the Big Ten Championships receive byes to the quarterfinal round.

Minnesota ranks fourth all-time in most Big Ten Championships won. Since 1910, the Golden Gophers have tallied 15 team championships. Minnesota’s mark of 15 titles ranks behind Michigan (36), Chicago (20), and Illinois (17). Since 1980, Minnesota has the most titles with nine, followed by Michigan (8) and Illinois (8).
