The Big Ten Conference has announced the seedings and pairings for the 2013 Men’s Tennis Tournament, placing Minnesota as the No. 2 team in the contest. The event, which begins this Thursday, April 25, will take place in Columbus, Ohio on the campus of Ohio State University. As one of the top four teams, the Maroon and Gold receive a bye into the quarterfinals.
After a shutout win over Iowa on Sunday afternoon, Minnesota (13-9 overall) tied Michigan (14-8) with a final 9-2 record in conference matches. The Gophers own the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Wolverines, who will be seeded third. Ohio State claimed its eighth-consecutive conference title to earn the top spot in the tournament. Illinois rounds out the top teams with the No. 4 position.
Friday’s quarterfinal matches will begin at 8:00 a.m. CT. Minnesota is slated for the third match of the day scheduled at 12:30 p.m. The Gophers will face the winners of Thursday’s afternoon match-up between No. 7 Michigan State and No. 10 Nebraska.
Saturday will showcase the tournament semifinals starting at 8:30 a.m. Sunday’s championship match is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. For complete seedings, brackets, and additional information about the four-day tournament, visit the Big Ten Tournament Central webpage.
