seasoHarsh Mankad led the Golden Gopher Men's Tennis Team past Wisconsin 4-3 on Sunday in Madison, Wis. With the win, Minnesota finishes the regular season at 14-6 overall and 7-3 in Big Ten play.
Mankad defeated Wisconsin's Danny Westerman in three sets with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) win at No. 1 singles to clinch the match. Mankad improved to 23 -3 overall and 8-0 in Big Ten action with the victory. The Golden Gophers prevailed in four of the six singles matches as Aleksey Zharinov, Avery Ticer and Chris Wettengel earned wins.
Wisconsin swept the three doubles matches as Minnesota had to juggle its lineup with junior Thomas Haug on the sidelines.
The Golden Gophers will next compete at the Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio., on April 25-28.
