The 52nd-ranked University of Minnesota men's tennis team evened its overall record at 9-9 today with a 6-1 win over Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich. The Golden Gophers swept the three doubles matches and went 5-1 in singles play to improve to 3-1 in the Big Ten.

The Maroon and Gold went 3-0 in doubles play to take the early 1-0 lead. At No. 3, D.J. Geatz and Nic Edlefsen improved to 2-2 in the conference with their 8-1 win over Michael Flowers and Scott Rasmussen. UM clinched the doubles point at No. 2 with Andres Osorio and Sion Wilkins' 8-5 victory over John Allare and Joseph McWilliams.

Minnesota cruised to the team win with five singles wins. Osorio, Raoul Schwark and Wilkins clinched the winning points for the Golden Gophers with straight-set wins at Nos. 2, 4 and 5, respectively.

At No. 1, Geatz, ranked 60th in the nation, moved his record vs. ranked opponents this season to 5-5 with a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) triumph over 125th-ranked Nick Rinks. Geatz is now 10-8 this spring, including a 3-1 mark in league play. Edlefsen, ranked 114th, also won in three sets, downing Allare 7-6 (1), 3-6, 1-0 (10-8).

Minnesota stays on the road next weekend, taking on Northwestern and Wisconsin on April 8 and 9.
