singleThe University of Minnesota men's tennis team shut down Utah, 5-2 on Thursday at the USD College Tennis Challenge in San Diego, Calif. The Golden Gophers lost the doubles point, but went 5-1 in singles to improve to 5-6 overall on the season (1-1 Big Ten).
The Maroon and Gold earned its lone win in doubles at No. 3 as Sion Wilkins and Brian Lipinski downed Mike Bullard and Ryan Scott, 8-2.
In singles action, Andres Osorio lost to Miron Mann, 7-6, 3-6, 7-5 at No. 3 for Minnesota's only loss. Chris Wettengel prevailed in a straight-set, 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 over Roeland Brateanu. All of the Golden Gophers' other wins came in straight sets.
