MINNEAPOLIS - A pair of victories last weekend moved the Gopher Men's Tennis team up in the national rankings ahead of a lengthy road trip for the team which starts this week with trips to Washington and Portland and continues in mid-March after the team's bye week with a trip to UCF before getting back into Big Ten play with a trip to Iowa.

Minnesota (6-2 1-0 Big Ten), has won four-straight and five of its last six as the team propelled itself into the no. 33 position in the latest ITA Division I Men's National Team rankings released on Tuesday.

Two on the Weekend
The Gophers posted a combined 13-1 score in a pair of dominating victories at Baseline Tennis Center last weekend, defeating Drake in a sweep on Friday night before knocking off Penn 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. Felix Corwin continued to impress since his move to no. 1 singles as he picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Drake's Vinny Gillespie and a 6-2, 6-2 win over Penn's Kyle Mautner. Freshman Vlad Lobak made his spring doubles debut as he and sophomore Eli Ogilvy earned a 6-2 victory for the Gophers over Penn's Max Concilla and Kaden Funk.

Gophers in the Rankings
Minnesota moved up to no. 33 in the latest team rankings following a 2-0 weekend at Baseline Tennis Center. Stefan Milicevic ranked no. 45 in the latest ITA National Singles Rankings released Tuesday. He is 2-4 yet this season, looking to regain the heights of his fall campaign when he posted an 11-3 mark. Felix Corwin and Matic Spec are now 3-2 in the spring and 9-5 overall for the 2017-18 season, slipping in the polls to No. 58 in the latest poll.

Returning All-Big Ten
Minnesota returns three All-Big Ten honorees from a season ago in Spec, Corwin, and Krstanovic. Spec landed on the First Team All-Big Ten with a 21-16 overall mark and 6-6 mark against conference foes. Corwin landed on the Second Team All-Big Ten with a 23-13 mark and a 7-6 conference record.   Krstanovic posted a 21-9 record in his sophomore season and earned Minnesota's Big Ten Sportsmanship award.

Washington (7-4) snapped a losing skid of three last time out with a 7-0 sweep of Seattle ... head coach Matt Anger is in his 24th season leading the Huskies ... Washington is yet to drop a decision at the no. 2 singles position including a 5-0 mark from no. 57-ranked Mitch Stewart ... Jake Douglas is also ranked for the Huskies, no. 73, and owns a 5-1 mark at no. 1 singles and 3-0 mark at no. 2 ... the doubles pairing of Kawika Lam and Enzo Sommer has played at the no. 1 position in each of Washington's 11 duals. They're currently 6-5 ... the Gophers are 5-10 all-time against the Huskies, including a 4-2 defeat last season on March 3, 2017 at Baseline Tennis Center.

Portland (6-5, 1-1 West Coast Conference) dropped two of its last three match-ups but defeated Gonzaga 4-0 last time out ... Aaron Gross has led the Pilots for each of the last 21 seasons ... Michail Pervolarakis ranks no. 36 nationally and has posted a perfect 7-0 mark at no. 1 singles during the dual season ... Mathieu Garcia has posted a 5-1 mark at the no. 2 singles position ... he and his twin brother Pierre Garcia are currently 5-3 on the dual season competing at first and second doubles ... Minnesota defeated Portland in the teams' only dual, a 5-2 victory back on Feb. 4, 2006 in Seattle, Washington.
